Yaks - The Gentle Breed - Bottle Fed with A Little Alpha Influence

The yak is the grunting bovine. An ancient creature first domesticated in Tibet thousands of years ago.
Qualities of yak include, i.e.: docility, intelligence, cold weather hardiness, disease resistance, feeding efficiency (requires less feed than cattle), need only conventional cattle fencing, easy birthing, and will crossbreed with cattle producing larger meat animals than either parent (between 18 and 24 months old). Products from the yak are warm barbless wool, tasty good cholesterol meat, milk, and hides.
They can be trained to pack and ride. A playful creature in the field, running and jumping with tails raised - quite a site to see!

Trust and Training:

I bottle feed to gain the yaks trust both bulls and heifers. The heifers are expected to be gentle when bottle fed and the bulls have proven to me they can be gentle when bottle fed. The yak calf must be taken away from the mother before it is taught ansiness towards other species, within two days of birth. The bull and heifer must also must be taught manners, just like raising a child. Occasionally telling them "no". Please visit my web site.
