warm greetings from the last frountier

Hello everyone,
My name is Kathy and i live up here in beautiful Alaska. We breed and sell clicker trained alpaca and llama's. We also sell roving,yarn and lots of alpaca products in our ranch store. My husband packs llama's on hunting trips in the Skilak mountains. We do not have our web page finished yet but will post it in the future.
I really enjoy this farming community.
Kathy

Hello and welcome. It sounds like a great place and life you have there.

Thank you Vicki, It is a wonderful place to live some trade offs but thats anywhere. I love our farm/ranch life as im sure everyone on this site does. I read you live in or. I have family in various parts of Or. My son is graduating from college in salem on the 17th. It makes my heart smile. I wont be attending because he wants me to save my $ to help ou with the wedding, yes he is also getting married. whew all in one summer, way too much but .............so thats what i am doing. anyway so i got a little ofcourse.
I am very intrested in milk goats but am having a hard time getting any here. The goat people here really dont give them up easily. go figure. we want a good milker/meat goat. What kind do you have, what do you sell them for? I will visit your web site as well.
Kathy

We are about 4 hours from Salem and yes a lot for one summer! My baby will be a senior next year then is off to the University of Hawaii. We raise Nubians,LaManchas and Obers. If you want the milk,Nubians are the way to go. Sweet good tasting mik and high in butterfat so makes great cheese. For meat I have found that a Boer buck with dairy doe's produces the best meat. Prices vary but kids usually start at $150.00. I have 2 milkers and 2 dry yearlings for sale right now for $1000 for all. They can be shipped with Ron Keener. He goes all over the country and takes good care of the animals. :}

Hello Vicky
Where does Ron Keener live and what does he charge to transport? Does he transport all animals and to anywhere? How can i get in touch with him?

He does transport all kinds of animals to anywhere. :}

The only problem is getting a goat across the Canadian border. You need to fly them up to Anchorage or Fairbanks so they need to be small enough to fit into a large kennel.

Kathy,
Where are you located? I am in Gakona - 25 north of Glennallen over here by the Canadian border. We have a herd of 52 boer/kiko/milk goats. We have three full blood boer does, 4 full blood kiko does, three full blood boer bucks and 1 full blood kiko buck with the rest crosses. I milk one kiko, two Sannaan/boer does and one Tog/boer doe. We have 13 kids left from summer selling and look forward to a few fall kids.

Heidi

I am near Pendleton, Oregon. We go up your way quite often though. I love Osoyoos.:}
