Sheep and Hog Report for 04/13/09

Receipts: 1,959 Last Sale: 1,179 Year Ago: 1,462

Compared to last month: Feeder lambs lightly tested so market
trend was not established. Slaughter ewes sold mostly 1.00-5.00
higher on Good (Fleshy) ewes and steady to 4.00 lower on Utility
(Medium) and Cull (Thin) ewes. Slaughter buck had a light test,
however a weak undertone was noted. Slaughter and feeder goats had a
ood test but no trend determined due to a light test from previous
sale. Demand good to very good on most classes with active buyers
participation. Feeder lambs comprised 22 percent of the supply; 64
percent slaughter ewes with the balance misc. sheep and goats.
Next sheep sale will be on June 8, 2009.

Feeder Lambs: Medium and Large 1-2: 75-90 lbs 106.50-117.50;
100-110 lbs 92.75-104.50. Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 (Fleshy):
120-200 lbs 37.00-43.00; Good 3-4 (Fleshy): 145-210 lbs
31.00-34.50. Good and Utility 1-3 (Fleshy to Medium Flesh):
155-180 lbs 29.00-37.50. Utility 1-2 (Medium Flesh):125-200 lbs
22.00-30.00. Cull and Utility 1-2 (Medium Flesh to Thin):
125-240 lbs 19.00-25.00. Cull 1 (Thin): 112-149 lbs 5.00-16.00.

Slaughter Bucks: (Fleshy to Medium Flesh) 165-280
lbs 21.50-26.50; (Thin Flesh) 165-215 lbs 6.00-17.00.

Compared to last sale on Feb 15: Feeder lambs sold mostly 5.00-10.00
higher in a light test. Slaughter ewes sold mostly 3.00-6.00 lower, instances
8.00-10.00 lower. Slaughter buck sold mostly 4.00-8.00 higher. Slaughter
goats lightly tested. Demand moderate to good. Feeder lambs made up 10
percent; 65 percent slaughter ewes and bucks; 5 percent goats; 18 percent bred
ewes with the balance hogs and misc. sheep/goats. All goat prices are on a
per head basis unless noted. Next regular sheep/goat and hog sale is
scheduled for Monday April 12, 2010.

Slaughter Ewes: Good 2-3 (Fleshy): 145-160 lbs 60.00-70.00; 165-200 lbs
51.00-61.00; 205-220 lbs 48.00-50.50. Good 3-4 (Fleshy): 160 lbs 50.00; 210-
250 lbs 37.00-44.00. Utility and Good 2-3 (Medium Flesh to Fleshy): 145-190
