Hello Michelle,
what kind of sheep do you have? I have to small children as well, 2 little girls. Lydiyah 29 months, and Dayla 8 months. I really enjoy this site, there is alot of things to read and alot of people to talk to. :-)
ShphrdGrl,
I have a Jacobs sheep... hes a wether, and only has two horns. We got him while visiting a farm dropping off some turkeys. His mom had just delivered him and his sister the night before. The ewe rejected him, so the farmer asked if we could bottle raise him. Of course we said yes!
We've never had a sheep before, we are goat people. *LOL* But he's been lots of fun... we need to get him sheared.
My kids are 3 and 6yrs old... my daughter is the oldest. She loves playing with the baby goats and chicks... and she comes up with the most unique names for them! My son loves to fix everything and ride the quad with Daddy... actually I think thats both kids favorite thing to do. Mommy doesn't go as fast as Daddy does, so they prefer him to drive. *LOL*
What animals do you have?
Michelle
Currently we only have 1 dog and 2 goldfish (both are Lydiyah's pets). I spent 10 years on a farm while I was growing up. My parents had Blackbelly Barbados hair sheep. Eventually they got a goat to bottle feed the lambs that were rejected (I always got that job and enjoyed it very much). The goat part grew for my sisters (they loved to show and milk them) I ended up talking my parents into getting me a Katahdin since you could show them at the county 4-h fair and state fair (Barbados arent as recognized so they don't have many shows for them). My husband ended up liking the katahdins very much, so before we got married I helped him start our heard. For diferent reasons we decided to move out of state and had to sell our flock (we were heart broken) but, we plan to have a new heard in the very near future... I have to admit I never much cared for the goats my parents had, they were in the same pens with the sheep and they always beat my lambs around and I could never do anything about it since goats always think they are the boss... well, thats my story in a nutshell... I know my daughters would love the sheep as much as I do, We have many friends that have sheep and Lydiyah loves seeing the lambs jump and play :-), Dayla's not old enough to understand yet, but I know she will love them whe she gets older.
Hi Michelle,
It's funny how we travel a long distance through the internet and end up meeting someone in our own basic area...
Do you photograph your animals? If you do it would be interesting to see some of your work in the photo album here.
Steve
I put a few pics up in the albums Goats, Horses and Tractors. Its the best I can do from the hospital... (I just got my gall bladder removed, and have Leukemia) When I get home, I'll try to get better pics for you. *L*

I hope you feel better soon Michelle!
Those are some great pictures. You might want to make your own album to put pictures in. They would probably be easier to find then. I noticed some other people doing that.

I am also in PA - Bucks County. I have Cheviot and Shetland sheep, and crossbreed them also. If I have time I will post pictures - I need to take some of my lambs for my website. Today I ship out wool for processing before the Maryland Show hits the mills!
Crofter,
Are you getting pretty good prices for your wool? I had heard at one time that the market kinda dropped out. Is it picking back up again or was I just misinformed?
