The global financial crisis
The global financial crisis and its effects are setting some of the biggest challenges facing society. It does affect the agricultural division of our economy. It's been tough for quite a few businesses to recuperate from the recession, and the housing market is still in the dumps – but FedEx is beginning to improve, and so is UPS. FedEx reported slightly improving third quarter earnings, so they're getting back down to business – they had made some cuts, such as 401K benefits and bonuses, but kept their ground force at work – and out of needing payroll loans or payday advances to keep afloat. People often mention how much better FedEx and UPS fare compared to the postal service, and that's starting to become borne out.
