Cattle Breeds

There are many breeds of cattle. Breeds are animals that, through selection and breeding, have come to resemble one another and pass those traits uniformly to their offspring. Every breed of cattle has their good and bad qualities. It's important to have the breed of cattle that meet the needs and goals of your farm.

The Piedmontese Beef Breed

The Piedmontese Beef Breed is an interesting and unique genetic package that many producers are using for production of lean, healthful, tender beef. There are a number of branded beef marketing companies which use only beef from this breed.
The Piedmontese carry a unique gene (non-functional myostatin) that is responsible for their ability to produce more meat per animal, and beef that is consistently tender and lean.
