Can anyone explain why you need 3 years expierence and records before you qualify for a "Begining" farmers loans and programs from the USDA? Doesn't that defeat the term Begining?
The 3 years experience "managing and operating" a farm is only required to obtain an FSA real estate loan. Anyone who has farmed on their own for less than 10 years is considered a beginning farmer. Due to the fact the loan funds for real estate purposes are limited, the 3 year requirement was added in an effort to allow loan funds to go to eligible farmers who had established a record of good management and profitability.
