Southeast Weekly Hay Report
Movement and demand for hay and mulch has been light. Tropical Storm Fay
caused flooding in many areas of the Southeast and delayed field work. Florida
experienced double digit inches of rainfall while other Gulf states had five
to eight inches. Some producers are trying to cut hay this week and get it
baled by the weekend before Gustov arrives. Others are in a lull between
their second and third cutting. Supplies are fully adequate. Prices are steady
to weak.
Prices are FOB producer barn unless otherwise stated. Approximate
bale weights: Small Square 55 pounds; Small Round 1000 pounds; Large
Rounds 1500 pounds.
