Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, TX - 03/09/10
Cattle and Calves: 1,675 Week Ago: 947 Year Ago: 1,479
Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers over 650 lbs steady to 3.00
higher; steer and heifer calves under 650 lbs 5.00-10.00 higher. Slaughter cows
and bulls steady to 1.00 lower. Bulk of the supply Medium and Large 1-2 350-750
lb feeder steers and heifers. Trade active with good demand, especially for
light weight cattle suitable for grazing. Many consignments of cattle coming
off of wheat pasture on offer.
Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 01
percent, replacement cows 01 percent, and feeders 83 percent. The feeder supply
included 65 percent steers and bulls and 35 percent heifers. Approximately 66
percent of the feeder run weighed over 600 lbs.
