Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary - Amarillo, TX - 08/31/10

Cattle and Calves: 1,656 Week Ago: 2,163 Year Ago: 1,074

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers over 600 lbs sold mostly
steady, instances 2.00 lower. Steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs sold steady
to 5.00 lower, instances 10.00 lower, with weaned/thin calves experiencing the
least decline and fleshy calves seeing the most decline. Slaughter cows and
bulls sold mostly steady. Bulk of the supply Medium and Large 1-2 400-900 lb
feeder steers and heifers. Trade active with moderate to good demand.
Slaughter cows made up 16 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 1 percent,
replacement cows 1 percent, and feeders 82 percent. The feeder supply included
55 percent steers and bulls and 45 percent heifers. Approximately 58 percent of
the feeder run weighed over 600 lbs.
