Compared to two weeks ago: Slaughter and feeder classes too lightly tested
last sale for an adequate comparison for today's sale. However, a firmer
undertone noted on all classes. Demand good. Today's supply consisted of
approximately 88 percent feeder lambs, 3 percent ewes, balance replacement ewes.
Next sheep sale will be Monday February 22, 2010.

Compared to last week's smaller run slaughter lambs sold 3.00 to 5.00
higher. Slaughter ewes were too few last week to trend to;
however, a higher undertone noted. Feeder lambs scarce. Receipts
about 86 percent slaughter lambs; 9 percent slaughter ewes and the
balance was bucks and misc. sheep. Today's lambs that usually go for
feeder lambs went to slaughter for the upcoming holiday season. Buyer
attendance good with good to very good demand for the last sheep and
goat auction at the Sioux Falls Stock Yards.

**Sheep sales at the Sioux Falls Stockyards have been discontinued.
Therefore, this will be the final weekly summary issued.
Weekly Sheep Summary
Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold 3.00-5.00 higher.
Higher undertone noted on slaughter ewes. Feeder lambs scarce.
Buyer attendance good with good to very good demand for the last
sheep and goat auction at the Sioux Falls Stockyards. Sheep
supplies near 86 percent slaughter lambs, 9 percent slaughter ewes,
with the balance bucks and misc sheep. Receipts this week 1187
including 168 goats compared with 484 including 103 goats last week
and 952 including 368 goats a year ago. The estimated Federally
Inspected sheep and lamb slaughter the first three days this week
31,000, compared with 30,000 both last week and a year ago.
Shorn Slaughter Lambs: Choice and Prime 2-3 few 146 lbs 96.00.
Wooled Slaughter Lambs: Choice and Prime 2-3 127-154 lbs

supply consisted of approximately 47 percent slaughter ewes and
bucks, 53 percent feeders. Regular sale next Thursdy March 18th.
