Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love it
I Love her new album!!! I listen to it everyday and can relate to her every song. I really love her gospel and would love to hear an all gospel cd by her. Keep doing your thing Miss Hudson Its your time to shine!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - J Hud - An Amazing Songstress
Prior to buying this CD, I loved "Spotlight", but after reading the reviews, I was a little apprehensive. Trust me, the negative reviews must be coming from rival artists because this debut CD is fantastic. There is no reason to skip a track -- it has music for all genres. I was forced to listen to Rap when my son was growing up, thus developed an appreciation of that style of music, but T-Pain and Ludacris are mainly providing background vocals, Jennifer definitely takes the lead.

This is a great CD, and I'm definitely an R&B fan.

what an incredible talent she is. great singer, actress, shes definately going places and I'm lucky enough to start her collection of music early on.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Soulful!!!
This CD grew on me. I started out listening to the songs I liked, Spotlight, My Heart, I'm His Only Woman. But as I explored the other songs, I found this to be a very soulful collection of songs that each tell a story. Jennifer has a very powerful voice and a heartfelt delivery. The only song I really can't relate to is Pocketbook, although I love me some Luda. This is a great CD to sit back and relax with that special someone. It's nice to listen to someone who can ACTUALLY sing. A good debut album and I look forward to more from Ms. Hudson and will keep her in my prayers.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - "Clearly" a winner!
I wanted to enjoy this first CD by Jennifer Hudson and was not disappointed. I especially appreciate the clarity with which Ms. Hudson sings the lyrics and the feeling she gives them. I predict several hit singles from the CD and all of them have her singing solo. Here's my order for the hits (I didn't include Spotlight, her first single release): We Gon'Fight, Giving Myself, Invisible.

The only duet that I came close to liking was the one with Fantasia. Fantasia has a great singing voice but the producers of her duet with Jennifer would have served her better by sharpening her speaking voice. Unless they intentionally wanted her to sound bad. Keep moving higher, Fantasia!

Okay, back to Jennifer. It was almost eerie that the single gospel song that she chose for her CD is Jesus Promised Me a Home Over There. She gives a stirring rendition. Following the deaths of her family members, I couldn't help but think how fitting this song is.

Ms. Hudson has a long, bright career ahead of her. May her mother smile down from "the home over there."
