Editorial Review: Product Description: AUTOMOTIVE WINDSHIELD MOUNTING BRACKET WITH SUCTION CUP MOUNT. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Must have if you own a RhinoExcellent charger and do not buy immitations. Garmin made this charger and it's calibrated with the right voltage to properly charge your unit without cooking the battery. Charge it while you sleep or are driving to your next location. No problems with it what so ever and it is a quality product. I own two Rhino's and wouldn't be as happy with them without this product. Rating: - Holds onto the GPS just fine, just not the dash plateWhile this little bracket does a great job of hanging onto the GPS unit it's a different story when it comes to the suction cup sticking to the plate it comes with. I've got a Magellan that I use side by side with my Garmin and the Magellan will stay in place for months at a time while the Garmin falls off the dash weekly. It's frustrating to say the least but I've learned to deal with it and remove the Garmin from the dash (which leads to less use of the Garmin). It's too bad they couldn't get the suction cup to work as well as others have. Rating: - Does the job, but could be better. If you absolutely need a windshield mounting bracket for your Garmin 60 series gps, this one will do, but you may want to look elsewhere. There is another one available here at amazon that may work better... but maybe not, and it's a bit more expensive. As for this one: * Bottom Line: * If... _IF_ you really feel you need/want a windshield mount... it seems this is as good as any. But it does have its drawbacks. * Pros: * Seems sturdy and the GPS stays in the bracket very well. * More mounting angles possible than cheaper ones (like my old TomTom mount). * easy to move to another vehicle * easy to disconnect the gps from the mount (!!! except that that darn little screw is still attached (see below) !!!) * Cons: * you need to use the belt clip "screw" that came with the gps unit itself... or else it will not work!! * this is (a) annoying and (b) pretty lame since it's a tiny little piece that can be easily lost/misplaced * while the mounting angles are good for up and down... helping with the slopes of various windshields... it's not so great for turning to the side to avoid glare, etc. So... again, if you need a mount for hands-free use of this (at least while just viewing)... this will work. However, it's arguable whether or not this is better for me than just holding the darn thing in my hand. And while convenience is not too bad, it's much more convenient to not use a mount at all. Rating: - Great Price, But FragileI used this mount for my Garmin 60CSx for about six months before the mount broke. What happened was the plastic grip over the screws the mount uses to lock the hinges into place broke when I over-tightened one. The plastic split down the middle and there went my ability to tighten the hinge. That was my fault, likely, and I don't fault the product for it given the price. It's worth buying for its simple purpose, but if you do pick one up, don't torque the screws down like a lug nut, :D I'll be buying another when spring rolls around! Rating: - garmin mounting braketi am using this braket to hang the GPSMAP60CSX while driving. it is not adjustable to turn the screen against my face it can turn upside down and rotate 360 but it stay straight.second problem i feel that i will broke it when trying to turn it is not a heavy duty braket. | |
