Editorial Review:

Description:
Mira Sorvino and Ashley Judd star as two sides of the woman America loved, but who struggled to love herself: Marilyn Monroe. Sensuous, shocking, sensational, this is the secret life and loves of the girl called Norma Jean and the woman who became Marilyn.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Norma Jean and Marilyn DVD Review
An entertaining HBO film about the life of Marilyn Monroe. Lindsay Crouse has a good role as Marilyn's coach and is fine as usual. Good picture and sound.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Ashly Judd
I wasn't over the moon on this DVD and had expected more from Ashly Judd.
However, it gave a different point of view of Ms. Monroe.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Entertaining to a point, but totally inaccurate.
The HBO movie is entertaining to a point. I just couldn't get through the inaccuracies. I found this movie referenced under documentary of Marilyn Monroe's life, but it is not a documentary of her life. This is just a movie with some good acting, and a lot of false references.
For instance, the movie does not show Marilyn when she was happy at all (understanding she had a rough childhood).
The way they showed her life ending was not at all how it happened. For example, how she was found dead and who saw her the last day of her life.
It does not show her true relationship with Joe DiMaggio, or how before her death they were friendly again.
It portrays her as a slut willing to do anything to get to the top which is wrong. If you read any book about Marilyn, writen by anyone who was close to her in her adult life, will describe her as a completely different person than she was played as in this so called documentary.

A great story of what could have been going through Marilyn Monroes' mind. Great acting by Ashley and Mira.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I wouldn't ever watch this movie again!
When I saw this movie, I knew that all of the truth wouldn't be in the film. I just didn't know they would bend the truth that much! It was poorly researched the facts wern't straight and they over exaggerated her sex life and made her out to be a codependent woman who would sell out to any man that was "someone". I mean come on, I know she was a sex symbol of her time and wanted attention, but they took it to far. Another thing that really bothered me, was how they made it seem like she was a crazy loon, a huge junkie and a stupid person! She was not any of those things. Anyone who has ever read a book or interviews with her, would know that. So I'm telling you now, if you want to "know" about Marilyn Monroe, your better off buying a bio about her. The only good thing about this movie, is that Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino are really good actresses.
