Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - JM Sheridan
I loved this book as well as the series. Many laugh out loud parts, great sexy vamps, what more can a girl ask for?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lover Eternal
If you like romance books at all, you have to read the entire "Black Dagger Brotherhood" Series by JR Ward. This series is the "BEST". It comes with strong characters and a never before written back drop. I just reccommend to start with the first in the series and progress from there.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Hot Vampire, Luke Warm Chick
The story line:
Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover--for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.
Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships, is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage's protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. Her faith in miracles was lost years ago. But when Rhage's intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves...
Spoilers:

I like a good vampire romance, and if there is some twist and turns, or dark ideas thrown into the mix all the better. Sadly though, this goes from real good to real bad. In the beginning of this book you find Mary Luce to be very intriguing, and Rhage outrageously attractive. The hallway scene where they first meet is steaming hot, and you can't put the book down when Rhage decides he will have her. Then the bottom drops out, Mary is described as a plane-Jane women, who has awful taste in clothes and wears scrunchies in her hair - yeah I said scrunchies - wow! So fine J.R. Ward wants us to read about the girl next door getting hers, but its hard to swallow when Rhage is supposed to be a walking talking God. So why is Rhage so crazy in love with Mary, she has a good voice and smells great - okay - yeah right that's believable.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love this series!
Lover Eternal was a wonderful book. I love the story between Mary and Rhage and his beast. Rhage has always been the warrior that had sex with anything that walked, but there is always a reason for the things ppl do. And in this book you finally find out why he does what he does. Once he finds love he wants to change for her and he is willing to do anything for her. Once Mary realizes that Rhage loves her which takes a while. She doesn't understand why. He is beautiful and sexy and sees herself as this normal looking person. Who has gone through hell with her cancer and now it is back. She doesn't think she should waste his time with her, but once she finally lets herself be loved she changes. At the ending of the book it really is the beginning of the third book. I have to say I have read many many vampire books and paranormal books, but I think I have found my new adult vampire series. Also the Black Dagger Brothers are HOT!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - And Emotional Roller-Coaster
I would actually give this 4 1/2 stars were it an option. This is a wonderful book both within the series and on its own, but it is not quite perfect.

Basic Plot: Mary is a human who is suffering from leukemia which is rapidly shortening her lifespan. Rhage is a vampire warrior of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. He is cursed with the spirit of a beast which comes out when he becomes aggressive. He encounters Mary on BDB property when she is there doing a favor for a friend. He is instantly transfixed with her, and soon pursues her. They fall in love but face the problems of dealing with their emotional baggage, Mary's disease, Rhage's beast, and of course the fact that they are of different species.

The Best Things About this Book:

Rhage is a very hot hero. He is handsome, cursed, and flawed. His love for Mary is raw and tangible. He becomes honest and self-sacrificing in a way that is truly heart breaking.

Mary is strong and easy to relate to. She is not perfect or beautiful. She has physical and emotional scars that result from her cancer and the other tragedies of her past. She learns to open up with Rhage and allows her self to be vulnerable.

The only problem I had with this was the resolution. I felt that the way Mary's disease was resolved was hastily thrown in as a means of getting to the happily ever after. The book speaks a lot about balance and sacrifice, but in the end theres not a lot of sacrifice at all. This issue is minor and does not take away a lot from the emotional effect of the story.
